Ahsan Shaikh, M.D.
Ahsan Shaikh is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Adult Psychiatrist with over 15 years of service to children, families and adults in both private practice and community based services.
He is known for his ability to connect with his patients, receiving the prestigious LACY Honors Award for his care of youth and families receiving residential, wraparound and outpatient services.
He uses a strength based approach to healing focused on developing self-awareness through compassion. As part of the healing process, he supports families in their journey to uncover the wisdom hidden in their distress.
He has experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, psychosis, and trauma.
He specializes in Mind Body approaches to healing, integrating yoga, exercise, nutrition and restful sleep into treatment plans.
He has given numerous trainings on Strength Based Diagnosis, Psychotropic Medications, Post-Traumatic Stress and Spirituality in Mental Health Care.
Dr. Shaikh was the Resident Teacher of the Year at the University of Michigan, where he completed undergraduate studies, medical school and Adult Psychiatry training. He completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training at Stanford University.
In addition to psychopharmacology, he has been trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT and Mind Body Medicine.
Dr. Shaikh believes his most influential training came from raising his three children. He enjoys coaching soccer and spending time with his family.
