A shared medical appointment (SMA) is a medical visit with other clients with similar diagnosis and medications. It is a group where clients can check in on how their medications and treatments are working, make changes to treatment as needed with the recommendations of a professional, receive more education, ask more questions, share concerns, and support each other in their treatment. In addition, clients will learn healthier coping skills, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) skills, sleep hygiene skills, communication skills, and self-management of symptoms.
SMAs are interactive, improve waiting times, and improve access to high-quality care. Research has shown that clients benefit from SMAs over individual visits, and gain more insight into their treatment through others.
Teen (high school) SMAs will be offered every Monday from 4pm-5pm and Wednesday from 530-630pm. Teens are not required to attend every week, but as needed
Young Adult (18-25 years old) SMAs will also be offered Fridays from 11am-12pm. Young adults are not required to attend every week, but as needed.
Dr. Crystal Bennett is accepting teens and young adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and ADHD for SMAs.
